St. Martin’s day

Today is the feast day of St. Martin of Tours (316-397). He was a soldier in the Roman army, but after his baptism he refused to engage in combat. “I am a soldier of Christ,” he said, “and it is not permissible for me to fight.”

An auspicious day for the beginning of this blog.
